McKibbin Street Lofts

McKibbin Street Lofts is a residential complex with two five-story buildings in East Williamsburg featuring spacious apartments. The units range from compact studios to large living spaces and include shared communal areas for residents.

The building was constructed in 1936 as a textile and garment factory serving the growing industrial neighborhood. Conversion to residential space happened in 1998 and marked the shift of the area from manufacturing to living.

The buildings became a gathering place for artists, musicians, and creative professionals drawn to the spacious rooms and informal community life. This concentration of talented people shaped the neighborhood and made the complex a cultural hub for young creative workers.

The complex sits close to bus stops and subway stations, making it easy to move around the city. The wide hallways and large windows provide natural light and make navigation through the buildings straightforward.

In 2011, the FBI executed a search warrant in one apartment looking for individuals with suspected connections to online hackers. The event briefly put the location in the public spotlight due to its connection to a well-known hacker network.
