Built in 1936 as a textile and garment manufacturing facility, the structure underwent conversion into residential spaces in 1998, marking the neighborhood's industrial transition.
The buildings earned the nickname 'Art Dorm' as they became a center for young artists, musicians, and creative professionals in the early 2000s.
Located near public transportation, the lofts offer flexible living arrangements with shared communal spaces and monthly rents that historically ranged from $375 to $800.
In 2011, the FBI conducted a raid on apartment 510 at 255 McKibbin, searching for members of the hacker group Anonymous.
