Captain Timothy Hill House

Captain Timothy Hill House is a small wooden dwelling made from pine planks set on brick supports with a wood shingle roof. The simple structure measures roughly 17 feet by 16 feet and shows how people built their homes with materials readily available at the time.

Built around 1800, this home dates from the earliest days when settlers first arrived on the island. It represents how the community grew from its initial foundations during that pioneer period.

The carved ship illustrations on the exterior walls show how much the sea shaped life here in early times. These decorations reflect what mattered most to the people who built and lived in this home.
