Graham's Forge Mill

Graham's Forge Mill is a five-story wooden structure built on limestone foundations with a metal roof topped by a Victorian-style cupola. The property includes additional buildings such as a smokehouse and grain storage facility spread across roughly four acres along a rural road.

The mill was built in 1890 and operated until 1934 on a site that previously held Graham's Forge and before that Crockett Forge, which dated back to 1796. This sequence shows how metalworking and grain processing shaped the site's industrial history over more than a century.

The mill shows how central grain processing was to rural life and how farming communities depended on such facilities. Visitors can sense how this building was part of the daily rhythm of the region and supported families who worked the land.

The mill is located along State Route 639 in a rural area and is accessible by car, though it sits in a remote part of the county. Visiting during daylight hours allows you to see the wooden details and surrounding structures clearly.

The interior retains its original milling mechanisms and operational elements that show how the work actually happened. The star-decorated cupola and Victorian lightning rod installation are rare examples of decorative details that survived on an industrial building.
