The course was designed in 1968 by Ellis Maples, an architect who created over 70 courses throughout the southeastern United States. It remained publicly accessible and was rebranded in 2021 while retaining its original location and layout.
The facility serves as a gathering place for local golfers, hosting amateur tournaments and competitions throughout the year. Players of different skill levels use the course for recreational rounds and friendly matches with family and friends.

The course underwent a name change in 2021, transitioning from Indian Valley to The Valley while maintaining full public access. This rebrand marked a new chapter for the facility while preserving its original design and character.
