Flexenbahn, Aerial cableway in Stuben am Arlberg, Austria.
Flexenbahn is an aerial cableway in the Arlberg area that connects two mountain villages with modern gondolas. The ride covers a vertical distance of about 560 meters between 1665 and 2227 meters elevation and takes just a few minutes.
The cableway opened in 2016 and connected two locations that were previously separate. It made possible the combination of several ski areas into one larger network in the region.
The cableway is part of local infrastructure that makes mountain sports possible and connects residents with visitors. It shapes the daily landscape of the region and shows how skiing defines life in these communities.
The ride is easy to access and takes only a few minutes from bottom to top. Visitors should prepare for changing mountain weather conditions and bring warm clothing, especially during winter months.
The cabins are heated, making the ride pleasant even on cold days. Many visitors do not notice that the journey crosses a provincial border, moving from Vorarlberg to Tyrol during the trip.
