Pedro Ernesto Palace

Pedro Ernesto Palace is a legislative building in Cinelândia that houses Rio de Janeiro's Municipal Chamber. The structure blends neoclassical features with eclectic design, displaying tall columns and ornamental details throughout its exterior.

The palace was inaugurated in 1923 after an unexpected shift in civic priorities. Funds originally raised for an Emperor Pedro II monument were redirected to construct this public building instead.

You can attend public sessions of the Municipal Chamber by entering through the main entrance on Floriano Square. Check opening times beforehand and allow time to find the chamber halls inside the building.
