During the 15th century, the castle transferred from St. Vincent's Cathedral in Bern to merchant Barthlome May, marking a shift in ownership patterns.
The neo-Gothic reconstruction of 1846 by Beat Ludwig Tscharner von Erlach transformed the architectural character of this Swiss cultural property.
Located at Schloss 1, 3633 Amsoldingen, the castle offers access to both the historical structure and the adjacent former collegiate church.
Engineer Samuel Bodmer, who owned the castle from 1711 to 1724, developed regional flood control systems during his residency at the property.
