Valserhorn, Mountain summit in Grisons, Switzerland
Valserhorn is an independent mountain peak in the Lepontine Alps between the municipalities of Vals and Nufenen, reaching 2,886 meters in elevation. The terrain is characterized by alpine meadows and mountain lakes that dot the hiking routes.
The peak acquired its present geological form through processes spanning millions of years. Settlement of the surrounding valleys by herders and mountain farmers dates back several centuries.
The mountain sits in a region where traditional Alpine farming and modern tourism coexist side by side. Visitors experience a landscape shaped by generations of herders and farmers.
Hiking to this peak starts from Blauw Gufer Alp above Nufenen and passes through high alpine terrain with multiple mountain lakes. The route requires sure-footedness and is most accessible during warmer months.
The summit has a prominence of 236 meters relative to its neighbor Bärenhorn just to the northeast. This topographic feature gives it independent standing as a separate peak despite the two mountains being quite close.
