Yuhuatai Memorial Park of Revolutionary Martyrs

Yuhuatai Memorial Park is a large commemorative complex in Nanjing featuring ceremonial walkways, gardens, and multiple monuments honoring those who fell during the revolutionary period. The grounds span approximately 54 hectares and include exhibition halls, historical displays, and various memorial spaces throughout the landscape.

This site was a place of executions during the Chiang Kai-shek regime, where over 100,000 people lost their lives. In 1950, three decades later, the grounds were transformed into a memorial park to honor those who had died.

The central monument displays nine sculptured figures representing different social groups: politicians, workers, peasants, and intellectuals. These figures stand together as a reminder of their shared sacrifice for the revolutionary cause.

The park features information boards and exhibition rooms that explain the history behind various monuments and provide context for visitors. Plan enough time to walk through the entire grounds, as the site is spread across a large area.

A 42-meter tall monument crowns the highest point of the park and bears an inscription from Mao Zedong. The inscription emphasizes the eternal legacy of revolutionary heroes and can be seen from various vantage points throughout the grounds.
