Tiecheng Pagoda

Tiecheng Pagoda is a multi-tiered stone structure with traditional Chinese architectural features standing in Mangshi in western Yunnan province. The building displays curved rooflines and narrow windows typical of classical Buddhist pagoda design.

The pagoda was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty as a religious landmark in the region. It has endured significant changes in Mangshi over the centuries while maintaining its original structure.

The pagoda serves as a place where you can observe Buddhist worshippers leaving offerings and performing daily prayers. The carved details and decorations around the base reflect the spiritual beliefs of the local Dai community who gather here.

The pagoda is located near the city center of Mangshi and can be reached by local transport or on foot. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes since visiting the site involves walking around and climbing interior steps.

A bodhi tree grows through the walls of the pagoda after a seed fell into a crack many generations ago. This unexpected plant growth intertwines with the stone structure and creates a remarkable visual element that often catches visitors by surprise.
