The Longjiang Bridge extends 2,471 meters across the Long River Valley with a main span of 1,196 meters and stands 169.7 meters above the river below.
Construction of the bridge began on August 2, 2011, and was completed on April 5, 2016, with official opening to traffic on May 1, 2016.
The bridge has become an engineering landmark in China, symbolizing infrastructure progress and showcasing advances in connecting remote mountainous regions with economic centers.
The bridge is located on Provincial Highway 317 and forms part of the Baoshan-Tengchong Expressway, replacing a 13.5 kilometer detour down the valley floor.
At the time of completion, the Longjiang Bridge held the record as the longest span high mountain bridge in the world with its 1,196 meter central span.
