Baoshan Temple

Baoshan Temple is a Buddhist facility with traditional buildings including the Mahavira Hall and the Four Heavenly Kings Hall. The complex contains multiple structures for different purposes, such as a library, bell tower, drum tower, and a hall dedicated to Guanyin.

The site originated as a family residence during the Ming Dynasty and was later converted into a temple for religious use. This transformation marked the transition of the location from a private dwelling to a sacred space.

This place serves as a living center where Buddhist practices are observed in daily rituals and prayer. The layout of the different halls reflects how people move through the site to engage with their spiritual practices.

The temple sits near the Lianqi River and features several distinct areas to explore at your own pace. Plan to visit each hall separately as they serve different functions and are positioned throughout the grounds.

The reconstruction followed traditional architectural plans and used hand tools and methods for woodwork, masonry, and stonework rather than modern construction techniques. These craft practices make the building stand out as authentically constructed in the classical way.
