Tierpark Rheinböllen, Wildlife park in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Tierpark Rheinböllen is a wildlife park in the Hunsruck region that spreads across about 76 hectares of forest and holds various native and international animal species. Around 300 animals from roughly 40 species such as deer, wolves, bears, and lynx live here in spacious enclosures.
The park was founded in 1967 and was originally named Hochwildschutzpark Hunsruck, with its founder Anton Schulte-Wrede aiming to protect regional wildlife. It quickly became a popular destination attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year.
The park offers visitors a chance to watch animals in habitats that closely resemble their natural environments and learn about their behavior. This direct experience with wildlife helps people understand and appreciate nature and its creatures.
The grounds are equipped with two different circular routes to serve different visitors and give everyone a chance to explore the park. Both paths go through natural woodland and offer different distances for varying fitness levels.
Visitors can see multiple deer species and mouflons wandering freely across the grounds, allowing direct wildlife encounters in the natural forest setting. This type of unrestricted animal movement makes each visit somewhat unpredictable and memorable.
