Garten der vier Ströme, Oriental garden in Marzahn district, Germany.
The Garden of Four Rivers is an oriental garden in Berlin's Marzahn district featuring a central pavilion with a fountain. Four water pools flow around this center in geometric patterns.
The garden was designed in 2002 by landscape architect Kamel Louafi with verification from Moroccan garden expert Mohammed El Fai'z. This collaboration ensured the design followed authentic Islamic garden principles.
The garden applies Islamic design principles that blend ornamental and useful plants to create shade, color, and fragrance in the space. This balance becomes obvious as you move through the layout.
Access is through the Hall of Receptions, a square building with a central light dome and Moroccan mosaic decoration. High walls surrounding the space offer protection from noise and create a sheltered setting.
The entrance gates on each side are decorated with handcrafted ceramic tiles made by Moroccan artisans specifically for this garden. These pieces reveal the careful attention paid to every detail in the design.
