Moseltalbrücke, Road bridge in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Moseltalbrücke is a modern concrete bridge crossing the Moselle Valley in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The structure comprises ten concrete pylons of varying heights that support the roadway as it passes over vineyards and the river below.
Construction on this bridge started in 2011 and finished in 2019, following years of planning and engineering to address valley crossing challenges. The project was developed to create a direct route for traffic between major European commercial corridors.
The bridge passes over a wine region where generations of vintners have cultivated Riesling grapes on steep slopes along the Moselle River.
Visitors can drive across or use the pedestrian and cycling path to take in views of the valley from above. Daytime travel offers the best visibility to see the surrounding vineyards and landscape clearly.
The bridge features a main span of approximately 209 meters supported by monolithic concrete columns among the tallest bridge supports in Germany. This engineering approach allowed the valley crossing to be completed without intermediate supports in the middle section.
