Kasselburg

Kasselburg is a castle ruin perched on a basalt cone in the Eifel region, rising about 490 meters above the Kyll river valley. The site now houses an animal park with wolves, eagles, and other predators that live in spacious outdoor enclosures.

The fortress was constructed between 1100 and 1200, initially serving as a defensive stronghold for the region. Over the centuries, ownership changed hands multiple times, including the Blankenheim family and later the dukes of Arenberg.

The site draws its name from the medieval fortress and serves today as a meeting place between people and animals. Visitors can observe how predators and birds live in their natural surroundings, giving the location a special role in the region.

The grounds are open year-round and can be explored on foot, with marked paths leading to the various animal enclosures. Overnight accommodation options are available on-site if you want to experience the location more immersively.

Visitors can sleep in shepherd's wagons surrounded by wolves at night, offering unforgettable nocturnal wildlife experiences. This overnight option lets you observe the animals during their most active hours.
