Schloss Randau, Manor house in Randau-Calenberge district, Magdeburg, Germany.
Schloss Randau is a classical manor house in Magdeburg built in 1885 on the foundation of an earlier estate structure. It features a grand staircase, columned round arches, and demonstrates the architectural craftsmanship typical of late 19th-century construction.
An original fortress was first documented in 1236 and belonged to the Lords of Randau until its destruction by Hanseatic troops in 1297. The later estate that replaced it came into the Alvensleben family's hands in 1391, establishing a long period of family stewardship.
The Alvensleben family shaped the estate through their role in regional religious transformation during the 16th century. Visitors can still sense this noble heritage reflected in the building's design and setting today.
The building is accessible from the outside and sits in a quiet suburb of Magdeburg with good access routes. The surrounding grounds allow for walks through the estate landscape and views of the building's historical setting.
A central avenue from the manor originally aligned toward Magdeburg Cathedral, a deliberately planned sight line from the 19th century. This view is interrupted only by forest areas today, yet still reveals the original architectural intention of its designers.
