St. Agatha, Parish church in Aschaffenburg, Germany
The church features Gothic elements, sandstone construction, and a modern facade designed in 1962 by architect Gustav Heinzmann, incorporating both historic and contemporary elements.
First documented in 1184 through a papal decree from Pope Lucius III, St. Agatha Church stood outside the city walls and underwent major reconstruction after destruction in 1945.
The altar includes the Bäckeraltar, created by Kathi Hock in 1950, representing the local bakers' guild and connecting the church to regional craft traditions.
The church maintains regular services and provides spaces for worship, including a baptismal chapel and a Marian chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Fátima.
Two burial stones from the Baroque period were discovered during reconstruction and now form part of the church's exterior wall design.
