Westarkade

Westarkade is a modern office building in Frankfurt's Westend with 15 floors rising 56 meters high. It features an intelligent double facade with motor-controlled flaps that automatically open and close in response to changing weather conditions.

Construction began in 2007 following the demolition of a former library, marking a turning point in Frankfurt's financial district development. This shift transformed the Westend from an educational hub into a modern office destination.

The building represents how contemporary Frankfurt architecture merges function with environmental responsibility. Its animated double facade with moving parts becomes a visual landmark that shows visitors how modern office towers can demonstrate technological innovation.

The building is centrally located in Westend and easily accessible by public transport. As it is a private office building, access inside is normally not available to the general public.

The motor-controlled facade actively adapts to weather changes and reduces heating and cooling costs as a result. This system makes the building a practical example of how smart technology can make the workday more comfortable and sustainable for office workers.
