Dalherda Kuppe, Mountain summit in Hesse, Germany
Dalherda Kuppe rises to an elevation of 800.6 meters within the Rhön region, featuring steep slopes and natural formations along its northern side.
The mountain became part of a military training area in 1938 when the Wehrmacht established the Wildflecken training grounds, now used by NATO forces.
A distinctive phonolite column on the northern side of the mountain connects to regional folklore about a giant named Kuprian through local legends.
The summit remains closed to public access as it lies within the active Wildflecken military training grounds operated by the German Armed Forces.
A 3.40-meter-high summit cross, crafted by a local metalworker, was installed at the peak during a dedication ceremony on September 4, 2010.
