Großer Auersberg

The Großer Auersberg is a 808-meter peak in the Rhön Mountains with dense deciduous forest covering its slopes across the Bavarian region. Its location provides views across the surrounding landscape toward Frankfurt and the Vogelsberg.

The mountain became part of the Wildflecken Training Area in 1938 when military forces claimed the land for strategic operations. This military designation has remained in place for over 80 years.
