Sofitel Frankfurt Opera, hotel in Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Sofitel Frankfurt Opera is a hotel in central Frankfurt, positioned next to the Old Opera House and the Wallanlagen Park. The building includes guest rooms and suites, a restaurant called Schönemanns, a bar, a spa with a pool, a fitness area, and conference rooms.
Construction started in 2011 and the building was completed in 2016. The official opening in autumn 2016 was attended by prominent guests from France and Germany, among them the French Prime Minister at the time, Manuel Valls.
The hotel takes its name from the neighboring opera house, placing it directly in Frankfurt's main cultural district. Inside the public areas, rotating art exhibitions bring together German and French influences in a way that visitors can see as they move through the building.
The main entrance is on Hochstrasse 44, as the nearby Bockenheimer Landstrasse is closed to traffic in that section. Guests arriving by car should follow local signs carefully, since access from some directions can be limited depending on the day.
Two electric vehicle charging stations sit right outside the entrance, which is uncommon for a hotel in such a central city location. Just around the corner, Goethestrasse is one of Frankfurt's most upscale shopping streets and is often missed by visitors heading toward the main sights.
