Herxheim

Herxheim is a Neolithic excavation site in Rhineland-Palatinate with ditches and pits dating to around 7000 years ago. The layout consists of several semi-circular structures that mark residential areas and storage zones from this early farming period.

The settlement emerged during the Linear Pottery culture, an early farming society that spread from southeastern origins into central Europe. The community was abandoned or destroyed toward the end of this archaeological period.
