Palacete Moreno Benítez, Madrid, Belle Époque palace in Salamanca district, Madrid, Spain.
The Palacete Moreno Benítez is a five-story mansion on Paseo de la Castellana designed in the Belle Époque style with light-colored stone and classical details. Its symmetrical facade features decorative window frames and ornamental stonework that displays the refined taste of its original owners.
Built in 1904 by architect Joaquín Saldaña y López, the mansion was home to the banker Juan Moreno Benítez. The building later became state property and eventually transformed into office headquarters.
This palace represents one of the few remaining residential mansions on Castellana avenue, reflecting how the street transformed from an exclusive residential area into a modern business district. The building is a reminder of how wealthy Madrid families lived at the turn of the 20th century.
The building underwent extensive renovation in 2017, adapting it for contemporary office use while preserving its classical exterior. The interior was modernized to meet current business needs without altering the heritage facade.
The mansion retains its original guard booth and perimeter fence, now surrounded by contemporary high-rises that create an intriguing contrast. These preserved details offer a glimpse into how the street's character shifted from residential elegance to modern commerce.
