The Maybourne Riviera, Palace hotel in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France
The Maybourne Riviera sits atop the cliffs of the Côte d'Azur at nearly 1,500 feet (457 meters) above sea level, offering 69 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The property was transformed from an abandoned structure known as Vista Palace when Irish entrepreneur Paddy McKillen acquired it in 2018 and commissioned French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte to redesign the modernist building.
The hotel displays museum-quality contemporary art by Louise Bourgeois, Jeppe Hein, and Tom Shannon throughout its white-hued interiors, reflecting the area's legacy as home to designer Eileen Gray and her modernist Villa E-1027.
The hotel features two restaurants led by chefs Mauro Colagreco and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, an outdoor pool built into the rocky landscape, a spa with botanical gardens, and complimentary transfers to Monaco.
Guests can access the Maybourne La Plage beach club situated 984 feet (300 meters) below the main building on the rocky shoreline, featuring deck seating designed to create the sensation of dining aboard a yacht.
