Chapelle Sainte Thérèse - Les Carmes

Chapelle Sainte Thérèse - Les Carmes, Catholic chapel in Larvotto, Monaco.

Chapelle Sainte Thérèse is a modern church building located on Boulevard d'Italie that combines clean lines with classical architectural touches. Inside, the structure accommodates roughly 210 worshippers, with a mezzanine providing additional seating above the main floor.

The original Carmelite church was demolished in 1998 and replaced by a new structure, following the community's earlier relocation from a sanctuary in Laghet during the 1880s. The rebuilt chapel opened to the public in March 2002 under architect Fabrice Notari's design.

The chapel serves as a spiritual hub for the Carmelite community in Monaco, creating a space where visitors sense the quiet devotion of those who gather regularly for prayer. The building reflects how this religious order chose to establish their presence in the principality.

Access to the building is provided through public elevators from the surrounding residential neighborhood, which proves helpful for those with mobility needs. Visitors should be aware this remains an active worship space where regular services take place, so quiet respect is expected.

During the four-year rebuilding period between 1998 and 2002, a temporary chapel functioned nearby so the community could continue their worship without interruption. This detail shows how important this space was to the believers who gathered here.
