Saint-Charles Church, Catholic church in Monte Carlo, Monaco

Saint-Charles Church is a church building in Monte Carlo featuring Renaissance-style architecture and a 30-meter bell tower with French influences. The interior is lit by nineteen stained glass windows, and a gilded chandelier hangs from the ceiling.

Construction began in 1879 under the commission of Prince Charles III and was completed on Easter Monday, March 26, 1883. The building replaced an earlier religious structure and reflects the architectural preferences of the 19th century.

The church serves as a place of worship for French-speaking residents and visitors seeking traditional Catholic ceremonies in a quiet setting. The interior reflects the devotion of the community through its artistic details and thoughtful decorations.

The church is easily accessible from Avenue Sainte-Charles, and the interior is bright and straightforward to navigate. Keep in mind this is an active place of worship, so respectful behavior and appropriate dress are expected.

The interior features a 17th-century gilded wooden altar with decorated columns and statues that was transferred from the former Saint-Nicolas church in Monaco Town. This artwork preserves an important piece of Monaco's religious heritage from another era.
