Pont du Larivot

The Pont du Larivot is a road bridge that spans across the Cayenne River, linking the towns of Matoury and Macouria. It features two traffic lanes and separate paths for people on foot and bicycles.

The bridge was opened in 1976 to support growing development in the region following the founding of the space center. It replaced earlier ferry services and created a permanent land route.

The structure serves as a vital connection point for French Guiana communities, supporting daily movement between major population centers and the space center.

The bridge sits on National Route 1 and serves as the main link for reaching the airport and space center. It operates continuously and provides free access for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists at all times.

A newer and longer bridge is being constructed downstream from the existing structure to handle future traffic needs. This expansion shows how increasing movement in the region continues to shape its infrastructure.
