Jardin botanique de Cayenne

The Jardin botanique de Cayenne is a botanical garden in Cayenne that spans roughly three hectares and holds numerous tropical plants along with flowering trees of different sizes. It sits at the end of Avenue Charles de Gaulle and displays hundreds of species found across the region.

The garden was established in 1879 under the original name Jardin du Roi and functioned as a research center for botany during the colonial era. This early purpose shaped both the collection and character of the place from that time forward.
