The church features a four-bay nave with an octagonal crossing, surrounded by aisles and transepts under a pyramidal lead roof with a copper lantern.
Miss Monica Tempest funded the construction of Sacred Heart Church in 1857, making it the first Roman Catholic church established in Blackpool during the Victorian era.
The interior contains marble piers supporting nave arcades, stained glass windows designed by Frances Barnett, and an octagonal white marble pulpit with red columns.
The building measures 156 feet in length and 90 feet in width, with a tower reaching 109 feet high and an additional lantern extending to 97 feet.
The church houses a former cinema organ, installed in 1936 after its transfer from the Waterloo cinema, replacing the previous instrument in the building.
