St Barnabas' Church, Erdington, Anglican parish church in Erdington, Birmingham, England
St Barnabas' Church is a brick church building in Erdington featuring sixteen stained glass windows that display biblical scenes throughout its interior. An octagonal bell tower with eight bells forms a distinctive part of its design and can be seen from the surrounding area.
The church was designed by Thomas Rickman and built between 1822 and 1823, followed by its consecration in 1824. A major fire in 2007 destroyed the roof and windows, leading to complete reconstruction and reopening in 2012.
The church carries the name of Saint Barnabas, a figure from early Christian tradition. Visitors can experience the spiritual character of the space through the stained glass windows that fill the interior with colored light and biblical imagery.
The building can be reached from the main street and is clearly visible from the surrounding area. The churchyard and interior are accessible to visitors at various times, making it possible to view the stained glass windows and bell tower at your leisure.
The churchyard contains 66 war graves from both World Wars, including soldiers of different nationalities. These graves create a quiet space of remembrance for those lost in past conflicts.
