Esso Birmingham Terminal, Petroleum terminal in Erdington, England
The Esso Birmingham Terminal contains 17 fuel storage tanks with a total capacity of 50,000 cubic meters next to Fort Shopping Park on Wood Lane.
The terminal opened in 1962 and initially operated with both rail and road connections until the mid-2000s when the rail line beneath Fort Parkway ceased operations.
The terminal represents a significant part of Birmingham's industrial development, supporting the transportation and energy needs of the West Midlands region.
Located adjacent to the A47 Fort Parkway, also known as Heartlands Spine Road, the terminal operates continuously throughout the week for fuel distribution.
In 2014, the terminal gained attention when authorities discovered a major fuel theft from its pipeline connection to Birmingham Airport and Fawley refinery.
