Meikleour Beech Hedges, Historical hedge along A93 road in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.

The Meikleour Beech Hedges stretch for 530 meters along the A93 road, reaching heights between 24 and 36 meters from north to south.

Jean Mercer and Robert Murray Nairne planted this European Beech hedge in 1745, before Robert departed for the Battle of Culloden where he lost his life.

The hedge represents a connection to Scottish history, as local workers who assisted in planting left their tools beneath it before joining the Jacobite Rebellion.

A team of four workers spends six weeks using hydraulic lifts and specialized equipment to trim the hedge every decade, with maintenance costs reaching £90,000.

The Guinness World Records recognizes this living boundary as both the tallest and longest hedge on Earth, maintaining this status since 1966.
