Royal Garrison Church

Royal Garrison Church, Gothic Revival church building in Rushmoor, England

Royal Garrison Church is a Gothic church building in Rushmoor featuring carefully designed architecture. The structure comprises five bays supported by round piers, stone dressings, and a slate roof with intricate arched vaults.

The building was constructed in 1863 and served as the original garrison church for the new Aldershot barracks during British military expansion. Its creation met the growing military needs at this location.

The name reflects its origins as a church for military personnel who gathered here for worship. Today it continues to welcome soldiers and civilian visitors, keeping its military connection visible.

The building is located on Farnborough Road and is accessible for services and visits. Most visitors can enter the church and explore the interior, especially when services are taking place.

Inside, an arch-braced roof with mock-hammer beam structures displays careful craftsmanship in its design details. A square font with eight marble shafts symbolically representing the evangelists adds a decorative historical layer to the interior.
