Sgùrr na Sgine, Mountain summit in Northwest Highlands, Scotland
Sgùrr na Sgine is a 946-meter peak in the Northwest Highlands with steep rocky slopes and a distinctive north ridge known as Concorde Ridge among climbers. The terrain transitions from grassy lower sections to more exposed rock formations as you gain elevation toward the main summit.
The name comes from Scottish Gaelic, meaning 'Peak of the Knife', derived from its sharp eastern rock wall. The mountain has long attracted climbers seeking to combine it with neighboring peaks in the region.
Scottish mountaineers regularly undertake expeditions to this peak, often combining it with nearby Munro summits for extended hiking adventures.
The climb starts from a layby on the A87 near Achnangart Farm, with the route following grassy slopes for much of the ascent. Sturdy footwear is advisable since higher sections become rocky and can be slippery when wet.
The mountain features two separate high points: a North West Top at 942 meters and the main summit 300 meters to the southeast. This creates an added element for climbers who want to visit both summits on the same outing.
