Church St Mary of Jerusalem

Church St Mary of Jerusalem is a Baroque building with white exterior walls positioned on elevated ground in Trški Vrh. The interior features ceiling frescoes created by painter Antun Lerchinger throughout the space.

Construction began in 1751, marking the establishment of a significant religious center in the Krapina-Zagorje region. The project emerged during a period when Baroque architecture was gaining importance in the area.

The arcade surrounding the building displays painted scenes depicting prayers and miracles of the Virgin Mary as passed down by local believers. These images reflect the religious devotion that visitors can observe while walking around the structure.

Regular church services take place on Sundays, while visitors at other times can arrange tours with the caretaker in advance. Reaching out beforehand is recommended to ensure availability and smooth arrangements.

The interior houses an original 18th-century organ that has been preserved and remains functional since its installation. This musical instrument offers a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship traditions of that era.
