The Trinitarian order built this religious complex between 1745 and 1760 on the hilltop. In the 1780s the buildings were converted to serve as a military hospital before undergoing later transformations.
The castle holds collections about city history and decorative arts displayed across restored rooms. Visitors can explore how Budapest developed through the objects and furnishings shown here.
The site is easily reached by public transport and sits on a hill with straightforward access. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as exploring the building involves stairs and uneven floors.
An iron dragon statue at the entrance once decorated the first developed riverbank section on the Pest side of the Danube. This artwork was moved here and carries the history of an earlier embankment project.
