Tripura Government Museum, State museum in Agartala, India
The Tripura Government Museum spans four exhibition galleries displaying archaeological findings, traditional crafts, and extensive collections of tribal artifacts from Northeast India.
Originally established in 1970, the museum underwent major renovations and moved to the former Ujjayanta Palace building, which served as the royal residence until 1949.
The museum exhibits 1,406 objects including stone sculptures, terracotta plaques, and bronze statues depicting Hindu and Buddhist deities from the 9th to 13th centuries.
Located in central Agartala, the museum opens from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM every day except Sundays and public holidays.
The numismatic collection contains rare gold, silver, and copper coins from 1464 AD, minted during the reign of Maharaja Ratna Manikya, the 145th king of Tripura.
