Arifil Mosque, Historical mosque in Sarail Upazila, Bangladesh.
Arifil Mosque is a structure featuring three large domes, four corner towers, and five entrances distributed across its rectangular form. The 24-meter length accommodates multiple prayer halls with symmetrical architectural planning.
Shah Arif built this mosque in 1662 during the Mughal period, when the region was under Sylhet Sarkar administration. The structure reflects the religious importance and administrative power of the area at that time.
The mosque blends Bengali and Persian design features visible in its prayer spaces. The intricately carved niches and arched alcoves throughout reflect the craftsmanship of its builders.
The building sits about one kilometer east of Sarail Upazila center and is accessible by local transport. Visitors should dress modestly and prepare for uneven pathways and limited facilities in the surrounding area.
The interior creates a distinctive echo effect through polished surfaces that amplifies the recitation of verses. Underground tunnels beneath the grounds are said to connect with burial sites nearby.
