Siva Doul

Siva Doul is a temple complex in Sivasagar with a main structure surrounded by two companion temples, named Vishnu Doul and Devi Doul. The site includes multiple distinct buildings situated near a large water tank.

The temple complex was commissioned in 1734 during a period when the region was under Ahom rule. This construction marked an important chapter in the local history of the area.

The temple walls display detailed stone carvings showing Hindu deities, with Shiva and goddess Durga featured prominently throughout. Visitors can observe these intricate works as they move through the complex.

The site is easy to access and located near other important landmarks, making it part of a local sightseeing route. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for direct sunlight.

The inner sanctum holds a Shiva Linga positioned in an unusual way that sets it apart from typical Hindu temples. This distinctive feature makes the site noteworthy among those familiar with temple traditions.
