Gola Ghar

Gola Ghar is a rectangular brick structure built during the early Ahom period in Sivasagar. The building features thick walls with ventilation openings and remains a protected monument today.

The building was constructed in the mid-17th century during Ahom rule and served as an ammunition storage facility. It stands near fortified structures that reflected the military strength of that period.

The building now houses a museum gallery with traditional weapons and armor from the Ahom period on display. Visitors can observe how military equipment was made and used during that historical era.

The monument is located around 4 kilometers from Sivasagar town center and is easily accessible to visitors. The site is maintained by archaeological authorities and has set visiting hours.

The roof features a distinctive two-layer design that helped protect the stored supplies inside. Circular openings on both the front and back sides allowed steady air circulation throughout the structure.
