Burhi Gosani Devalaya Jorhat

The temple follows Shakta tradition and contains an ancient idol of Goddess Durga, positioned at coordinates 26.758889 latitude and 94.214722 longitude.

Established in 1794, the temple received its sacred idol when Ahom king Rudra Singha transported it from Jaintia hills in Meghalaya to Assam.

The temple maintains a continuous tradition of Durga Puja celebrations that originated with the Ahom monarchy and extends through four centuries of observance.

Located on Dewal Road in Jorhat district, the temple provides religious services with descendants of the original Sanatan priest family conducting ceremonies.

The temple features a specific pond, constructed during Purandar Singha's reign, which supplies water for washing the idol during Maha Sasthi rituals.
