Negheriting Shiva Doul, Hindu temple and Monument of National Importance in Dergaon, India.
Negheriting Shiva Doul is a Hindu temple in the Golaghat region situated on a hillock beside National Highway 37. The complex features a main sanctum at its center and is arranged with several smaller shrines around it.
The original structure dates to the 8th century and was built by the Kachari dynasty. In 1765 it underwent major renovation and redesign under King Rajeswar Singha.
The temple functions as a gathering of multiple shrines, with the main sanctuary surrounded by four smaller temples dedicated to different deities. Visitors can observe how this arrangement reflects local spiritual practice and remains central to community life.
The temple is accessible throughout the year with regular worship services following a set schedule. Visitors should inquire ahead if they wish to participate in specific ceremonies or rituals.
The name comes from the Negheri bird, a species native to this region. Stone materials for construction were transported from the banks of the nearby Dihing River.
