Château Aselmeyer, Gothic castle in Chiaia, Italy
Château Aselmeyer is a villa in Chiaia featuring twin towers made of Vesuvian stone located between the Vomero hill and the Amedeo district. The building stands within a private residential complex containing multiple apartments, which means visitors cannot tour the interior spaces.
The villa was built between 1899 and 1902 by Anglo-Neapolitan architect Lamont Young, who later left the property. After his departure, the building was sold to banker Carlo Aselmeyer, whose name remains connected to it.
The building displays English Gothic style elements with pointed arches and colored windows that recall Tudor and Elizabethan architecture. These European influences shape how the structure looks and feels when you walk around it.
The building stands at Corso Vittorio Emanuele 166 and is visible from the street, but can only be viewed from the outside. Since it contains private residences, visitors cannot enter and should focus on viewing the exterior.
The interior spaces combine Vesuvian stone facades with extensive wooden elements, including floors, ceilings, walls, stairs, and doors. This blend of local stone and wood makes the construction distinctive within Neapolitan architecture.
