Santa Caterina, Gothic church in Treviso, Italy
The Santa Caterina church features a large single nave with cross vaults, tall lancet windows, and three end chapels displaying Gothic architectural elements.
Construction of Santa Caterina began in 1346 but paused during the plague outbreak of 1348, resuming in the early fifteenth century with its final shape.
The church walls display extensive frescoes, including the Stories of Saint Ursula by Tomaso da Modena, transferred from Santa Margherita church in 1979.
The building now functions as part of the Treviso Civic Museum, located at Piazzetta Mario Botter 1, presenting exhibits from Paleolithic to Roman times.
During Napoleon's rule, the church transformed into a military arsenal, with three floors added through the walls and frescoes until post-war restoration.
