Civic Museums of Treviso - Home to Santa Caterina, Archaeological museum in Treviso, Italy

Description

The Civic Museums of Treviso, located in the former convent of Santa Caterina, occupies a Gothic church building and holds collections spanning from ancient archaeological objects to Renaissance paintings. The complex preserves both Bronze Age and Roman artifacts found in the region as well as works by significant Italian artists from later periods.

History

Luigi Bailo spent fifty years collecting and preserving objects that tell the story of Treviso's past, laying the foundation for what would become this museum. After extensive restoration work on the church building itself, the collection moved to its current home where it remains today.
