Sant'Agostino, Baroque church in Treviso, Italy.
Sant'Agostino is a church with an elliptical floor plan in Treviso, featuring interior walls and ceilings decorated throughout with stucco and inlaid marble. The building displays the ornamental characteristics of baroque style in its design and finishes.
Architect Francesco Vecellio designed this building in the mid-18th century, completing it in 1758. It was constructed on the site of an earlier rectangular church.
The right altar displays a painting by Ludovico Pozzoserrato showing Saint Aniano repairing shoes while Saint Mark, Saint Julian, and Madonna watch. This artwork remains one of the notable pieces that visitors encounter when exploring the interior.
This church is easy to reach and located in an area with other religious buildings nearby. Visitors should come dressed appropriately and be prepared for typical church opening hours.
Two preserved frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries depicting the Flagellation and Saint Sebastian remain on the interior walls. These early wall paintings coexist with the later baroque ornamental elements, creating layers of different historical periods in a single space.
