Indren Glacier

Indren Glacier is a glacier in the Monte Rosa massif that stretches between two prominent peaks. Its surface descends from higher to lower elevations, offering various areas to explore.

Modern infrastructure first appeared in the 1960s when engineers built mountain railways leading to the glacier. These efforts opened easier access for climbers and visitors.

The glacier sits in an area with deep mountaineering roots, and its name carries weight among Alpine climbers. Many visitors use it as a launching point for expeditions to higher peaks nearby.

A cable car system connects the valley with higher elevations and provides a comfortable ride up to the glacier. Bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear, as conditions at altitude can be harsh.

The glacier has shifted noticeably in recent decades, leaving behind natural lakes formed from meltwater. These lakes form as the ice retreats, giving the high mountain landscape a different character.
