Ludwigshöhe, Alpine summit in Monte Rosa massif, Italy
Ludwigshöhe reaches an altitude of 4,341 meters and stands as a prominent peak within the Monte Rosa massif on the Swiss-Italian border.
The first ascent of Ludwigshöhe occurred on August 25, 1822, when Austrian general Ludwig Freiherr von Welden led a team of surveyors for scientific research.
The mountain received its name from Saint Louis IX of France, whose feast day coincided with the first recorded climb of the summit.
Climbing Ludwigshöhe requires professional mountain guide services and advanced mountaineering equipment due to the technical nature of the ascent and glacier conditions.
The summit serves as a geographical tripoint, connecting the Swiss canton of Valais with the Italian regions of Aosta Valley and Piedmont.
