The museum, which opened its doors in 1917, preserves collections that document the evolution of Bergamo from Roman times through the 20th century.
The museum network includes the Palazzo del Podestà, Campanone tower, and Torre dei Caduti, each representing different periods of Bergamo's development.
Located at Piazza Mercato del Fieno 6/A, the museum spans 2,000 square meters and provides services including a cloakroom, bookstore, and specialized library.
From the circular fortified tower, visitors can observe the skyline of Milan, the Orobie Mountains, and the surrounding plains on clear weather days.
